BioBank¶
The BioBank software system allows for tracking the receipt, processing and storage of biological samples. The samples belong to patients participating studies associated with the Canadian Biosample Repository at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Alberta. BioBank is a client server application that allows registered users with access to CBSR inventory information.
Version 3.2.1¶
The important bug fixes in this release are:
- Issue #1694: Context menu when viewing users in user management
- Issue #1695: Cannot double click on saved advanced reports
- Issue #1696: User management: cannot delete a user when in a group
- Issue #1697: User management: new users locked out after first password change
- Issue #1698: Advanced reports: reports not generating when a filter on activity status is used

Microsoft Windows¶
Microsoft Windows 7 or XP users can downlod the client software from here:
- Micorsoft Windows installer: BioBank2Installer-3.2.1.exe.
Once the file is downloaded, double click on the file and follow the instructions.
NOTE: administrator privileges are required to install this software. If you do not have administrator privileges, please contact your IT department for help with installing.
Other Platforms¶
The client runs on other platforms and can be downloaded from here:
- Apple Mac Snow Leopard 32 client: BioBank-3.2.1-macosx.cocoa.x86.zip
- The client software is also available for Linux 32 and 64 bit, Windows 64 bit, and Mac Snow Leopard 64 bit. See this link for these versions: http://aicml-med.cs.ualberta.ca/CBSR/BioBank_v3.2.1/.
Users should uncompress the tarball and then run the BioBank executable within the created folder.
Mac and Linux users require a Java Runtime Environment installed on their computer prior to running this software.
